The Irish Centre for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Research (ICAN) is made up of researchers who are dedicated through rigorous scientific and interdisciplinary research to the advancement of knowledge in relation to autism spectrum conditions (ASC) and other neurodevelopmental disorders.

The GEMMA Project has just launched.
NUI Galway are partners in an EU consortium of researchers who have been awarded funding by the European Commission as part of Horizon 2020 programme. The project GEMMA (Genome, Environment, Microbiome and Metabolome in Autism) is a ground-breaking autism research project which aims to develope greater understanding of the relationship between autism and gastrointestinal symptoms. The project will provide regular autism assessments for infants from 0-36 months of age, who are siblings of children with autism.
